Collaboration and Information Sharing in an Internal Supply Chain during an Innovation Project
Considered as essential for companies producing and selling everyday consumer goods, innovations enable organizations to acquire market shares and meet consumers’ evolving requirements. However, creating an innovation is not without risk. The aim of this article is to highlight difficulties linked to the management of information flows and the resulting adaptability of the supply chain to better answer consumer demand for product innovations. First, a literature review will help to understand how essential the support of supply chain management is during the innovation process and lead us to highlight the necessary collaboration and information sharing for the success of a project. Then, a case study conducted in a food processing company illustrates the importance of the management of information flows during the launch of a new product. The process analysis will enable us to realize the importance of intra- and inter-organizational learning during the innovation process.
